Metamorphosis Monday

Today is Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch.  I am quite excited to participate today as I have waited 6 years for this metamorphosis.

I purchased a pair of his and her Victorian chairs 6 years ago this spring while we lived in Virginia for $50.00. They had belonged to an elderly lady at our church.  They originally came from her parents home in Alabama.  I wasn't sure which direction I wanted to take with the chairs so I just let them sit in storage for the next 3 years while we completed our tour in Virginia and moved onto Korea.  Once we moved to Arizona I placed them in our bedroom, no I don't have pink in my bedroom but my husband needed a chair beside his closet and I needed a chair to pull up to my desk. So for another 3 years they have sat in our bedroom actually standing out like a sore thumb with all the lovely bright damask pink adorning them.  Well, two weeks ago I finally dropped off one at the upholsterer. I was really scared I wouldn't like the fabric that I had chosen so my thought was just to have one reupholstered and if I liked it I would take the other one.  I LOVE IT!  Below I give you a picture of the before....

And now the after...

I chose a fabric that was keeping with the style of the chair but also one that was neutral enough to put in any room in the house.  My thoughts are that I can add color by placing a throw pillow on them.  I really like how the one turned out and the other will soon be making his was to the upholsterer.
I found the fabric at Hancock Fabrics clearanced for $4.00 a yard.
Once we move I am going to have a reading area in the master bedroom and these will be the stars of the show!

Go have a look at other transformations at Susan's blog, Between Naps on the Porch.
