The Town Too Tough To Die

Tombstone, Arizona is a real live wild west town.  We live 20 miles from this famous town. The Earp Brothers, most notably, Wyatt, really put this town on the map. Of course, Doc Holiday helped too!  If you want to watch a great western movie based on a true story watch Tombstone.  I love this movie.  This past weekend was Founders Day in Tombstone.  I went with the sole purpose of viewing the Tombstone Rose. This year is the 125 anniversary of the bush/tree's planting.   We have lived here 3 years and I have yet to see this rosebush.  AMAZING.  I was easily sidetracked once my neighbor and I arrived.  There is always so much to see and do in that little town.  I present to you, Tombstone, The Town Too Tough To Die....

OK. Now for the wild west street...hold onto your guns!!
This is a reenactment of the Earp Brothers facing off with the Clanton Gang.  Not the actual shoot-out at the OK Corral.  That would take place on another day and at the Corral not in the street!

Of course, what would be a day without a couple of pets.

There are other great outdoor pictures over at Susan's blog, A Southern Daydreamer.  So head on over, it's just a click away, and enjoy some awesome pictures. : )

Hello Ann, very interesting as we've heard of Tombstone and Wyatt Earp, but not the rose bush. A fascinating glimpse of your wild west town.

I have to agree with Jan above. Have seen the movie about Wyatt Earp but don't know much else!

Thanks for the educational post!

Best wishes,
Natasha.

What a huge task the pruning of that rose bush must be. I'll bet it smells wonderful in bloom.
Thanks for stopping by.

My Tombstone Rosebush has yellow flowers all over! The grasshoppers had their way with it last summer, but it has come back with a gusto! I don't have to do anything with it. I am trying to train it on a trellis though. I loved your pictures!

Ann, What a great post. I like history and love the Wyatt Earp movies. I can't remember which is which but I know I liked Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday in one. I thought he was great. I think that is Tombstone and Kurt Russell played Wyatt Earp. I like the one with Kevin Kostner too. We were in AZ several years back and wanted to go there but didn't make it...we did ALOT on that trip. I would love to come back sometime. My kids, hubby and I think it was our favorite vacation...we went to both the N & S Rims of Grand Canyon, spent a lot of time at Lake Powell, Slide Rock canyon was a blast! We so enjoyed it!

Now for your table! It is darling! I love all the cherries scattered around...such a cute idea!

Thanks for sharing and thank you for all the sweet comments you've left on my posts.

Have a great day,

Nancy

I planted a Tombstone Rose in front of the little house on Mills the year we moved to Ft H. By the second year it was a blooming fool. Wonder if it's still alive? xoxo
