Peanutrition

Yep, thats right...Peanutrition.

Peanuts are big business here in my home state, Georgia.

Like y'all didn't know that. :o)

My youngest dude participates in 4-H through his school.  He has been learning about Georgia agriculture and specifically peanuts.

Back in November he had to submit a recipe for a sandwich using crunchy peanut butter.

The winners would advance to the district finals.

Well, youngest dude won!!!

This past Tuesday night he competed with 6 other students from the county for the championship
in the category "Most Ingredients" for the Peanutrition competition.

Lo and Behold the boy won first place!!

We are so proud!!!

Indulge me for a few minutes as I share some photos of the evening....

Our little "Iron Chef."

Just in case you're interested, some facts about peanuts....

And now for the winning recipe.

(Published with permission by the youngest dude.)

THE Sandwich

2 pieces of loaf bread
1 tbsp. crunchy peanut butter
1 tbsp. chocolate fudge frosting
1 banana, sliced lengthwise
2 tbsp. butter
2 eggs, beaten
cinnamon and sugar
powdered sugar.

Make THE Sandwich by spreading the peanut butter on one piece of bread and the chocolate frosting on the other.  Place sliced bananas in the middle of the sandwich.  Mix the cinnamon and sugar(to your liking) in the eggs.  Dip sandwich in the egg mixture.  Melt the butter in a small frying pan.  Pan fry the sandwich on each side until golden.  Remove to cool.  When cooled, slice and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Try it, it's a winner out of 300 entries!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.  We have a buzzzy one planned!

Fondly,
Ann

Way to go, Andrew!!! Congratulations on having a terrific recipe. I am sure it is a delicious sandwich.
I just love it when boys start to cook and learn to enjoy being self-sufficient.
Have a great weekend, Ann.

Oh how fun...congrats to Andrew!

Now talk to me about boiled peanuts. Do folks down there really eat them or is it just something the tourists are s'posed to try?
(For the record, we tried them when in GA, and kind-of liked them!)
