My Sweet Baby Oliver

Most of you know my Oliver. He is the sweetest little Shih Tzu. In the fall of last year he was diagnosed with bi-lateral hip dysplasia, severe arthritis in both hips and a small heart condition. He will be three years old on July 4, 2010. The vets all agreed that his issues stem from bad breeding. Within the past 6 months he seems to have grown quite the tongue! His tongue is so long that it constantly is sticking out of his mouth. Doesn't matter if he is awake or asleep. But you can rest assured if he is sleeping it is hanging out. This picture was taken yesterday as he napped on the couch. He opened his little eye right as the flash went off. God knew what he was doing when he brought this sweet little blessing into my life. I just love him so!!

He is so sweet! I have a dog that has hip dysplasia. He was diagnosed at about a year old and we have put him on a supplement and here it is four years later and he is still doing amazing. I am so thankful to have him he is such a sweetie! It is good that Oliver has you to take care of him!

Oh, that is so sweet. Isn't it amazing how much we love our doggies! My Dester is also a product of bad breeding. He has K9 epilepsy and I give him pills but he still has grand mall seizures. I love him anyway.

That is a sweet picture of the little man!!! Glad to see he's still got the tounge action going! (I see he got on the couch for the nap - wonder how he did that??!!) He and Chui are blessed to have you!

What a sweetie. We had the VERY same issue with a shihtzu. It, too, was bad breeding. How on earth do you tell if the breeder is reputable or not. They were recommended by another friend. It was not a puppy farm -- I find it so frustrating. Anyway, that little tongue was always sticking out too!

Oliver just seems way to young to have those painful hip problems though.
