A Southern Hot Spot

Can you guess what I'm talking about??

Growing up, when I would visit my grandparents my grandma and I would always, always make a trip
to this store.

The heart of many small southern towns.  Well, that and the First Baptist Church!

Can you see the hand painted signs in the windows...THE PIG WAY

I just love it!!

Ha ha! I never heard of The PW until I went to H's hometown the first time when we were in college. He lived in north Fl, which everyone knows is really Georgia, and his mom sent us to The PW for some beans. I was convinced it was a joke until we pulled into the parking lot. (The Piggley Wiggley?! Seriously?!) I came to appreciate it though. The only other places to get food in that little town were Hardee's, Li'l General, the high school football boosters' concession stand and the church hall after a funeral. One of the ladies made a mean broccoli rice casserole and she told me she got the cheese at The PW. :) xoxo

we had Piggly Wiggly out West, too! I don't know if they are still out here, though. PW was mentioned in a movie I saw recently too but I can't remember what movie! If I know me, it probably was a romantic comedy! ♥

I miss Piggly Wiggly so much. We had it in the north central when I grew up & then again when I lived in the south. It makes me feel warm inside just hearing the name & your photo is great.
