Thrifty Thursday and Tablescape Thursday

Today is my very first Thrifty Thursday and Tablescape Thursday. I'm excited to be able to finally participate after reading so many entries for months! Since part of my entry for Thrifty Thursday involves placemats that I am using for Tablescape Thursday I'm combining to do one big post. Enjoy! You can click on any picture to enlarge.

Last spring I found this really cute wicker purse/basket at a local thrift store for $1.00. I then found some really cute quilted fabric at Wal-Mart. I bought what was left on the clearance bolt for $8.00. Now, since I don't have a sewing bone in my body, I kindly asked my good friend Linda if she would sew a liner for the purse. She gladly said yes... and as you can see the end result is just wonderful. I. Love. It. Thanks again, Linda for helping a girl out!

To sweeten the deal even more I had enough fabric left over to have 12 placemats made. The fabric is two sided, so 6 placemats are one pattern and 6 are another. Both sides are equally cute.

Let me preface the next few pictures by saying that I am not a simple gal when it comes to decorating. More is always better for me. :) But, since we are in the throws of preparing for yet another move and it was cold, cold, cold last night when I decided to venture outside to the storage shed to find my Easter containers, this table will be very simple. The wind was blowing so hard that I aborted the mission of moving all 48 Christmas boxes to get to the Easter boxes and just decided to use what I have in the house, which isn't much along the way of decorations for spring or Easter. So lets begin... Tonight we are dining in the Butler's pantry, since the formal dining room has been turned into the packing/moving headquarters.

Told you it was simple...
The dinner plates are Fiestaware
2 salad plates are Fiestaware
2 salad plates are Bordallo
candles are from Micheal's, last year
cute little chocolate Easter bunny tassel, I just made yesterday. Stay tuned for a tutorial post this weekend on how to make her or her sister!

Head on over to Leigh's at Tales From Bloggeritaville to see other thrifty deals and ideas and to Susan's porch for some wonderful tablescapes.

Oooo, cuuuute... and in one of my favorite color combinations, too! Your "new" purse-basket would look great hanging on the door of my pink and green guest room. :) xoxo

Pink and green--such a spring color combination. Pink is hot in the design world right now. Love the placemat fabric.

Your table is beautiful. I can identify with going through multiple boxes as the seasons change. There has to be a better way. The colors on your table are my favorites, just come see my blog and you will understand. Welcome to Thursday's party.

Wow, how cute. You did such a great job on that tassel. I am going to try my hand at tassel making today in fact. I bought a cute little chocolate looking bunny at Joann's and can't wait to try doing something with it. Hey I LOVE YOUR PLATES! Oh my gosh. I have been looking everywhere for pink plates! Thanks for putting the name of those pink plates down...I'm going to scout around for some. Your table is just beautiful and is perfect for spring with the fabric and placemats.
Great post.
Blessings,
Debbie

Hello Ann! I think your lovely tablescape looks like a page out of a Vera Bradley catalog! It's so sweet, I just love it. I was browsing around blogland and found you from Susan's blog. Glad to meet you!

I am totally bonkers this year over hot pink and green! (Last year it was Turquoise, who knows why... I am just fickle I guess)

Anyway, I really like your placemats and pretty table!

Hi Ann,
This is just too cute! I love the colors - they are so "springy"! The bunny plates are adorable. And of course, I love the chocolate bunny tassel too!
