Betty Crocker for Betty and many others...

This past July 31st my parents celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.  My sister and I, along with our families, hosted a wonderful anniversary reception for my parents at their church, one they have been members of  for 30 years.

That's me in the black, along with my hubby to my right and two of my dudes.  My sister in the pink along with her sweet daughter and her hubby(the one with the beard.)  Of course my wonderful mama and daddy, sitting.

My parents are now in the process of downsizing and moving into a retirement community.  I have spent the last few weeks helping them go through 50 years worth of treasures and memories and pack their home.

I have been fortunate to be the recipient of quite a few treasures from my parents.  One of those much loved treasures is this cookbook.  My mama started housekeeping in July 1960 with this Betty Crocker cookbook.  I guess it is only fitting, for you see her name is Betty and so is mine.  However, I go by my middle name, Ann to keep the confusion at bay!

So, this Betty adds another Betty Crocker cookbook to her collection!

I'm linking this post up to Sue's blog, It's A Very Cherry World for Rednesday.

Fondly,
Ann

PS If you happen to live in the Augusta, GA area you certainly do not want to miss the moving/estate sale that my parents will be having on October 15th and 16th.  My mama is a dish collector extraordinaire!  You see, I get my dish hoarding honestly!!  If interested in attending, email and I will send you more information.

Hi! I just hopped over from a link on another blog, Sweet as June. We just finished celebrating my parents' 60th and also got them moved in to a retirement community. Luckily they've moved a few times prior to this move, so there wasn't 60 years worth of packing. It will make everyone feel safer to know they are in a community such as the one they chose.

Ann...your parents were married the week before mine (August 8, 1960). We had such a lovely time celebrating their 50th Anniversary.

I love your Betty Crocker book. Thanks for the visit and I'd love to see you post about your drawer full of vintage linens ;)

Blessings!

Hi Ann,
Ditto on that wonderful looking family. That's a fabulous photograph of everyone.
I was going to suggest a book on downsizing the parents but shoot with all the moving you have done in the past I'm sure you have it completely under control.
I hope you have a great moving/estate sale and your cookbook is priceless I'm sure.

Wow!!50 years is really something special! You just don't see that much anymore! How beautiful! I hoard cookbooks! Ok, not really..but I "collect" them like crazy! My girls and I love to sit with each new cookbook and literally read EACH recipe, sometimes outloud...I am not kidding! My youngest and I were reading my newest Gooseberry Patch and the oldest got jealous and grabbed a cookie swap cookbook to read! Ha! I love it! Hopefully they will take that love of not only cookbooks, but cooking with them as they get older! Love your Betty Crocker book!
Take care,
April

How wonderful that your parents have had such a long marriage. I too have a couple of the old Betty Crocker cookbooks and some of my favorite recipes are in them. Mine, unlike yours are very tattered and torn, but I guess that is an indication of love.(-:

Happy 50th Anniversary to your parents! What a wonderful photo of you all!

Your cookbook looks so familiar to me, I bet my mother had it too. Enjoy! I have my own very beat up (much loved!) one from the 70's.

Happy Rednesday,
Sally

What a wonderful treat, to be able to help host the celebration of your parents' 50th! It must be such a comfort, on so many levels, to be in GA again. Would love to attend the sale in Oct, but we're attending a university open house. Even though the school is local, small and not hugely well known, I think it's probably The One. It does not hurt that they are directly on the water and have a sailing team. :) xoxo

I am near Augusta, Maine but that won't help. I would love to see your mom's dishes. You will have to show the photos so I can drool. By the way, I thought I was a follower awhile ago but I didn't see myself listed, so I have signed up today. Have a lovely Rednesday.

I wish I could be there for the sale. Although, I am sure you will bring home many of the items for yourself! The family photo is great and everyone seems to be enjoying the event. Congratulations to your parents! Maybe we will see a photo of you and Ron at 50 years with the boys hosting and grandchildren all around you!!!!

One of the neat things in life is having a family to pass things down to you. How wonderful that you are one that treasures them. I hope my daughters are like that with my things. What a nice thought!
