Before and After Photos

As some of you know we moved this summer.  We have lived in military quarters for the past 6 years.  But with this duty station we decided to buy a home since this is my hometown and hubby will be retiring in 20 months.  So, I finally have walls painted another color besides white!!  While this home is smaller than the quarters we moved from this summer, it is still quite functional for our dwindling family.  Yes, my dudes are quickly leaving home and venturing out into the world . Maybe I should be happy but honestly it is quite scary.  Hope I've raised them correctly, wait I'm sure I've raised them correctly, I guess I should say, I hope they listened!!

Anyways, here are a few shots of our new house.

Dining room before our worldly treasures found their new home...

After our treasures found their new home...

and every now and then this occurs....

You see when I leave the house our man, Chui, will jump up on the table to watch me drive away.  Yes, its a tragedy that not all stores and offices will accept him as a patron.  So he must stay home.  Well once he's on the table he is stuck until I return....just keepin' it real!!

Moving along, here is the living room before...

and after...

So there you have it, our living room and dining room.  Yep, the only two rooms in the house that are actually complete.  Sure don't know how those folks on House Hunters can have their homes ready for the camera 2 months after moving in!!

Stay tuned for more before and afters in the upcoming months.  My goal is to be done before Thanksgiving.

In the meantime here is a picture of the kitchen or at least part of it.  This will be a big transformation when complete.

sorry for the horrible glare...

I am so happy for you that you get some color in your life now! That dining room is gorgeous and I love the prints on either side of the buffet. Are they Robert Furber? Please share the color, it is a great neutral!

I love your style! Your home is certainly beautiful. Your treasures have definitely found a lovely place to nest. And so have you and your husband.
I truly appreciate your husband's service to our country... and your service as well. It's so hard for military wives. I was one for a mere four years, but I spent 13 months with a baby by myself back in 1972. It was a challenge.
Love your blog!

Ann,
Your home is just lovely. I especially like the french doors in the dining room. I'm so happy that you have found a place to make into your own.
I chuckled out loud when I saw the picture of Chui and I'm glad you kept it "real"...too funny.
I look forward to seeing more as you get each room finished. Great job so far!

Your historic house was a show stopper in a different way, but I like your new place even better. It is just so inviting and has so many nice details. These rooms are beautifully done, Ann... and your special chandelier just "makes" the dining room --not that Chui isn't a perfect little accent, too! That pup cracks me up! Looking forward to the photo journey between now and Turkey Day! :) xoxo

It's so nice to meet you--your new home is lovely! Does Chul bother those candlesticks? He is adorable. I also like the blue and white accents in your living room. I am going to follow you so I can see the rest of your transformations! Ooh-I see you almost have 100! And I know what you mean about House Hunters. I always wonder the same thing, but I guess if television cameras are on the way it is a great motivator! Come visit me if you have time! Linda

I am so happy for you that you finally have a permanent place to call home...and a beautiful home! You have beautiful "worldly treasures"--love that mirror over the sideboard! Our daughter's shih tzu is a "table sitter" too. He thinks nothing of sitting on our breakfast room table to get a better view of the squirrels! Much happpiness in your new home...and yes, they WERE listening, I'm sure :)

It;s all very beautiful...what a great home! Love the cute dog on the table! Once I was getting ready to leave and I had my packed bag on the table..opened..I turned around and my Shih Tzu was in my bag! I know what you mean about kids leaving and hoping I have taught mine well enough too! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home! :D

How exciting that at last you can settle and into such a lovely home. We have one more move up our sleeves before we can say enough after 32 moves in 40 years...and we don't have the excuse of the army!
Thank you for visiting and call by anytime..Julienne

Your new home is beautiful!! I love the wainscoting and the transom window in the dining room. Not to create more work for you, but I think it would look great if you installed wainscoting in your living room too :-)

I've seen cats jump up on the DR table, but Chui is the first dog I've seen!! Too bad North Americans aren't as open-minded as Europeans about bringing our dogs shopping with us. They even bring their dogs to restaurants!!

Thanks for stopping by DesignTies and checking out my turquoise door :-)

I almost teared up when I saw Chui the first time...we had our little Shih Tzu, Toi, thirteen years. He was the "only one" of my "kids" that listened. :-D Wished you would have "settled" in VA...I think we may be "soul mates." Blessings! franki

Ann, congratulations on your beautiful new home. You've done a wonderful -- and fast! -- job of decorating. After the sacrifices your family has made on behalf of our country, I'm happy to see you settling in and putting some color on your walls! My deepest thanks to you and your husband for your dedication. (My son-in-law deployed to the Middle East twice as an enlisted man, got out and completed his degree, and is going back in -- just commissioned as an officer this summer. He received his assignment today and heads to Ft. Benning in the next few months -- and taking my daughter and 1-year-old grandson with him... I can only imagine how your family must have felt as you traveled the world! Bless you!)

Ann your new home is simply gorgeous! I really love your elegant dining room and lovely chandelier. Everything is just perfect. I know you must be thrilled to be no longer moving and decorating your own home to stay. I can't wait until we do that one day as well. The life of the military is wonderful and challemging at times with the moves.

Thank you very much for your kind words on my weight loss. I really appreciate it and all of your support sweet friend. Come say Hi anytime!

Warmly, ~Melissa :)

The dining room and living room look great! I am especially glad the drapes we made together work in your dining room!!! Love that Chui is standing watch now from a heightened vantage point! You have to get him a ramp to get up and down on his own. :)
Can't wait to see more of your new home in GA.

With this big nice home, you will be like a child with a new toy. What a difference it will make compared to where you have been living. I am happy for you. What you have finished looks really nice.

Good luck in your new home, it looks beautiful!
I don't like dogs in stores. Last week in TJMaxx one got loose from its owner and bit a toddler. It was awful. No one expected a dog to be in a store, so yours is safer at home!

Oh Ann, your home is so lovely! Those pillars are just amazing, and I'm so happy for you, that you can really make this house your home. It's going to be fun to watch the whole process!
Chui is so stinkin' cute! I was thinking maybe he needs a little window seat so he's not trapped on the table, but you definitely wouldn't want him scratching that beautiful paneling that's at the bottom of the wall. He looks pretty happy up on the table!
Happy REDnesday!

I was out blogging and I came across your blog. I love your new home...it is quite beautiful. I am a big fan of traditional decor. I have also fallen completely in love with your adorable dog - so cute. I want to get a dog and I have been trying to decide on a breed...what kind is yours...? Is it a breed you would recommend...any dog I get must enjoy a little pampering.(-: Come and see me sometime.
